Mechanics

A toolkit of proven engagement mechanics

Combine mechanics freely. Each one is a configurable building block, not a custom build.

Challenges & missions

Time-boxed goals such as “make five card payments this month” or “set up a savings goal”, with single or multi-step progress.

Streaks

Reward consistency — weekly logins, monthly savings deposits, consecutive on-time payments — with grace periods you control.

Badges & achievements

Milestone recognition that customers can see and collect, from first digital transfer to a year of on-time repayments.

Tiers & levels

Progress through levels based on points or behaviour, unlocking benefits that match your product proposition.

Leaderboards

Opt-in, privacy-safe rankings using display aliases, scoped to segments, branches or teams (including staff programmes).

Rewards & points

Awards flow into the same balance as your loyalty programme, so a completed challenge can pay out points, vouchers or tier progress.

How it runs

From idea to live challenge in four steps

  1. 1

    Design

Pick a goal, audience segment, eligible events and reward in the no-code builder.

  2. 2

    Simulate

Run the challenge against sample or historical transactions to see who would qualify and what it would cost before anything goes live.

  3. 3

    Approve & launch

A second approver reviews the configuration; the challenge is scheduled and published to the chosen channels.

  4. 4

    Measure & adjust

Track participation and behaviour change in real time, then pause, extend or tune the challenge.

Fair play & governance

Engagement that cannot be gamed or lose control of cost

Caps & limits
Per-customer, per-day and per-campaign caps on awards, plus a budget ceiling that stops a challenge automatically.
Qualifying rules
Minimum transaction values, eligible merchant categories and exclusion of reversed, refunded or internal transfers.
Abuse detection
Velocity checks and pattern flags route suspicious accounts to a review queue before awards are released.
Maker-checker
Challenge creation, changes and manual awards require a second approver, with old and new values retained.
Audit trail
Every event, award and adjustment is recorded and attributable, so any balance can be explained.
Responsible design
Opt-in participation, clear terms, and no mechanics that push customers toward borrowing or spending they cannot afford.

Integration

Fits beside the systems you already run

The module consumes events and returns progress. It does not replace your core banking, mobile app or loyalty platform.

  • Event intake — transaction, app and product events through streaming, batch upload or API.
  • Delivery — embed progress and badges in your mobile app via API, or use the white-label customer portal.
  • Rewards — award through the Crux Loyalty & Rewards Platform or call your existing rewards system.
  • Hosting — containerised, deployable inside the bank’s own infrastructure to meet data residency expectations.
Questions

Answered plainly

Is the gamification module separate from the loyalty platform?

It is a module designed to work with the Crux loyalty and rewards platform, so challenges can award points, tier progress and rewards from the same balance. It can also run on its own against your existing rewards system.

Can business teams launch a challenge without engineering?

Yes. Challenges, badges and streaks are configured in a no-code builder, simulated against sample data, and published through an approval step.

How do you stop customers gaming the system?

Fair-play controls include per-customer and per-day caps, minimum transaction rules, velocity checks, exclusion of reversed or refunded transactions, and a review queue for flagged accounts.

Does it work inside our existing mobile app?

Yes. Progress, badges and leaderboards are exposed through APIs for your own app, or you can use our white-label customer portal.

Can it be used for staff as well as customers?

Yes. The same mechanics can run internal programmes, for example branch sales or digital-adoption campaigns, with scoped leaderboards.

Is it Arabic-ready and aligned with Saudi requirements?

The customer experience supports Arabic with right-to-left layout, and customer data handling is designed with the PDPL in mind. Specific regulatory requirements are reviewed with your compliance team during scoping.
